The DC Recovery Group works to prepare for, prevent, respond to, and recover from community emergencies and natural disasters. We walk with survivors to guide them and share the power of community.
The DC Recovery Group was formed in 2019 in the wake of the historic flooding of the Elkhorn, Missouri, and Platte River. We provide coordination and leadership for groups who choose to participate in recovery efforts of Douglas County, Nebraska after an emergency or natural disaster. We take on the role of community volunteer agency coordination to ensure that all affected residents of Douglas County will be treated fairly. We intend to be there for the long term recovery of our community, working through Funding, Case Management, Community Assessment, Crisis Counseling, Emotional and Spiritual Care, Construction Management, and Volunteers in an equitable way. We help identify unmet needs within the community so as to make the most efficient use of the resources available. As groups rush in to help, we will work alongside survivors and agencies to help coordinate the efforts that are put forth by charities and volunteers to help the survivors that are not otherwise met by disaster funding.
